That true if one restricts oneself to recent
mailing list exchanges.

There are several estimates, the longest one
being 3-4 years, IIRC. Shorter estimates are
a couple of months. There is the case of Theodore
Petersen who made a hand transcription in the
1930's which is at least one measure. 
Most new members of the list may not be familiar
with D'Imperio's book, which, although becoming
a bit dated, is still an excellent source for
a lot of basic material. A must read.
The mailing list archives, often quoted,
contain much, muc more.
