VMs: Word repetitions
Hello,
I made an analysis of word repetitions on VMS.
I considered for repetition not only sequences of identical
words, but words that have a single character difference, or
a word that was a prefix of other word. The list is ordered
by the number of times each exact sequence appears.
Sequences can run across line breaks, but not paragraph
breaks. Labels were mostly ignored. I want to note that the
algorithm does not catch all repetitions, and can be further
improved.
I used my own modified version of the interlinear VMS
transcription, translated to EVA. I am aware that there is
ambiguity in defining what exactly a single voynichese
character is, but I just wanted to run a quick experiment.
The first five common sequences are:
21 daiin daiin
14 ar al
14 chol chol
11 qokeedy qokeedy
10 chedy chedy
10 chor chol
Of notice there also single occurrences of:
qokedy qokedy qokedy qokedy
chol shol chal shol chol chol shol
okeedy oteedy qokeedy okeedy okeedy
okaiin okaiin olkaiin otaiin
taiin qtaiin ytaiin ytaiin
I will post a link to the whole list as soon as I can.
Regards,
Marcio.
