stupid me, I just did a 9x9 for that 81 (my bad!) - sorry.. 
if IT is a folded KEY (per ES & CENTER is mine) (& yours i presume) 
then the TTT tic.Tac.toe "#" will have a "*" in the CENTER, but I 
leave that open (per ES) todate.

if 1 TTT is X and mirrored is its Y 
(e.g., 1 # )

and KEY = a Folded (TTT) type,

then (_minus_ centers of the ttt #)

would yield (minimum) 64 CELLS

IF

###

If all TTT areas (CELLS) are maximized, 
& 'CENTERS' _included_ on key, then 

it would yield (maximum) 72 CELLS


adding the CENTER (CENTERS of all TTT) "#" would give 81

hope that makes sense???
