you insert into the TTT (#) folded key.

 OK Steve I am going to attempt to use your method. It's as good as any. You
 say 8 TTT's with the centre empty or for some other purpose. Each TTT has
 it's own centre empty too. Right? All characters are static and can be read
 using a gallows after switch or a lower case character on the current TTT.
 When folded the TTT represents only half the characters and reduces the
 number of options.
 
 Please tell me if I have made any errors.
