My favourite Mona Lisa short story (perhaps it was by Philip K. Dick?)
involved a whole lost sequence of Mona Lisa pictures being mounted in a
gigantic mechanism and animated, giving the world's first film (but what
she reveals in the animation is the reason behind her smile). :-o
...of course, I might just have dreamt this. :-)
