A bit more info - I contacted my contact and....
Looks like they are seriously contemplating 600dpi because of the
interest from the community. They may decide that a page warrants
1200dpi at the time of scanning, and if so do that.
The 24bit colour is properly managed with colour corrections and
balanced light and etc. And the original image files are TIFF format
and are huge. They do not make those available free, but they can be
bought at 15dollars a shot for those who want them for publication
jpgs and sids are the delivered formats on the web
The foldouts are especially fragile and will probably not be scanned -
they will examine each one carefull before making a decision.
No update on the timescale - I reckon we should just be patient.
