400dpi / 24bit colour should be nice. Even so, there are still plenty of 
small details which are disproportionately interesting, where 1200dpi scans 
might reveal the subtlest of details - what the various non-Voynichese 
marginalia really say, for example.

AIUI, some of the fold-out pages - in particular the nine rosette 'map' 
page - have become very fragile over time, and so (I would guess) may be 
unlikely to be part of this current scanning process. :-(
