Re: VMs: Re: Who got Newbold's papers...?

Hi everyone,

I've just had a second email from UPenn, saying that actually they do have Newbold's papers after all. I've converted their inventory listing to HTML and added it to my list of Voynichiana on GC's site:-
http://www.voynichinfo.com/nickpelling/upt50_n533.html

The contents appear somewhat scrambled: I suspect they may not have been examined since 1928. Possibly problematic for us is the "Empty envelope: Bacon photos of MS examination after July 8" - still, until one of us goes through all the boxes properly, I guess we won't know. :-(

Note that there is also a listing for Professor Roland Grubb Kent's papers, which I've also asked for a listing of.

If you would like to see the collection or have limited photocopies, please
contact Dr. Chen. [ Kaiyi Chen [mailto:chen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] ]

But we do have files of both of them
in our Alumni Records Collection. The Newbold file is divided into 4
folders while the Kent file exists in two folders. Both files contain some
manuscripts, the rest being news releases, clippings and photographs. You
are welcome to look through these folders at your convenient time. The
University Archives opens from Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For more information about the Archives, please refer to our Web site at
http://www.archives.upenn.edu/.

Anyone here live near UPenn?

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
