Looking more closely, I think I may have been right for the wrong reasons. :-)

I think the "S" is an optical illusion - the right bar of the "r" continues 
downwards further than you expect, and only appears to intersect with the 
stroke of the cedilla. But if you look again at the sidfile, they are two 
quite separate strokes. Here's what I think is happening here:-
