VMs: Aries Taurus ...

Hi Marianna

Good day sunshine ;-) You obviously know more than me at the moment ;-) about the ms itself; but I am studying hard ;-).

I basically agree with your points as far as I can understand them ;-) ; for instance:

I think that there is no mistake in the ms - or that any "mistake" done is done on purpose; of course this is a rule - a big traditional one in secret writing - and an exception to this remains theoretically foreseeable ;-) ;

About the twofold ( at least: right again ) months my pet theory is that these months or signs are underlined - on purpose - because they are very special in the year. Afterwards there are more or less two explanations which can turn out to be the same ( ;-) ) :

- the calendar at the ms time was such that the year began in Spring
time, and/or

- during that period, the exchanges of influences between celestial and terrestrial beings were/are at their apogee or apex or highest ( sorry I could not refrain, I am reading the 1997 archives of the list on this matter ).

As an example for this here is a ( Spanish ? ) site about a book which is famous too ( although it is of French origin ;-) ) : the Mutus Liber; as you may see in some of the pictures a bull and a goat - I would say in my pidgenglish - are jumping here and there in the fields; this is a picture of Paradise really ( oh sorry again for this, back to the ms story ); unfortunately I numbered three pictures of this type ( not two; sigh ) but the idea remains the same IMHO.

Possibly however you already knew about this ( sigh again ) ; anyway I am sure this was already mentionned in the list, but I still think it s a possible approach of the ms. Your humble month copying monkk(ey),

Hi Jean

Thank you for the link! About the twofold nature of (at least?) Aries and Taurus, I can only come up with two possible explanations: either a) These months are related to some magical festivals, special dates etc. that cause the month to be divided into a "day" and a "night" part; or b) These months are related to the moon diagram on page f67r2, and a leap month/leap days denoted by red moons can only occur on these months...
The figure next to the moon diagram on p. f67r1 could easily be related to a lunar calendar with a 30 day month: 12+9+9=30; i.e. the single stars would be counted only once.
Of course, then also the moon diagram could be read in cycles so that leap months would only come in certain years... I believe that the colouring is original work by the VMs author and he did not make a mistake in colouring - had he made a mistake he could have used additional colours to make his intentions clear, but he chose to leave the page as it is.
