Most of us may not be convinced, but even
respectable (?) magazines like Sc.Am. lack the
knowledge to judge how closely Rugg's method
does or does not emulate the details of the VMs
text.
But this is just my point, is it worth spending
the effort to try and provide all the counter-
evidence? To me, at this time, it is not, but that
is not out of lack of interest :-/

I trust Clay Holden's view that the VMs is not
in Kelley's hand. And Nick's reminder about the 
kinks in the gallows may be one of the things that
are not explained by the grille method, but as
I wrote, this is not a serious 'threat' to the
hypothesis. Kelly may have just provided the
text and had a scribe to write it down. He may
have had an ideosyncratic way of writing the
gallows characters. We don't even know if it means
anything.

I also remember Stofi writing that some text
generated by the Rugg method does indeed exhibit
quite a few features of Voynichese, so any
demonstration of the incorrectness of the hypothesis
will need to address that properly as well.

And don't forget, the original publication included
the warning that the hypothesis was not likely
to be accepted by the active Voynich MS community
because we would not accept that the VMs could be
a hoax. Thus, we never had a carpet to stand on in
the first place :-)
