I am a linguist, not really a historian, and I was just following suit,
though I don't recall who led nymphs.  I suppose the danger of calling
them queens, attendants, and ladies might be in making assumptions as to
their nature, but I suspect the assumptions are reasonable enough.  If you
want to avoid making assumptions you could call them nymphs and
distinguish three grades:  nymphs superior, nymps attendant, and nymphs
ordinary.  (Damn, bit my tongue!)
