Re: VMs: C.A. Edgell
Hi everyone,
Thanks very much to Pam Wilson for digging up that background on Charles
Arnold Edgell, M.A. - still, when I looked through all the Edgells in the
1901 census, it wasn't obvious then why a 31-year-old school master working
in Cornwall would be WMV's business partner... and so the general question
mark still remains.
Interesting that he lived life at a brisk pace - MA in 1898, into
partnership with WMV (straight away?), dissolved the partnership in 1901
(?), and died in 1905 at the (un)ripe old age of 35.
I wonder if his MA studies were centred on incunabula, and perhaps on
Giovanni Baptista Sessa in particular? If not, why else would they pick
"Sessa" as their telegraphic codeword?
Just a thought (as normal).
Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
