I take it then that the comma after Arnold does not mean that this individual's name was actually Edgell Charles Arnold?

I finally got to a place where I could access the Ancestry.com database.
According to the Cambridge University Alumni information:

More Information: Adm. at KING'S, Apr. 26, 1889. S. of R.J., Colonel, and
late Chief Constable of Shropshire. B. 1870. School, Shrewsbury. Matric.
Easter, 1889; B.A. 1893; M.A. 1898. Engaged in private tuition. Living at
Falmouth, in 1903. Died s.p. Apr. 24, 1905. Buried in Mylor churchyard.
(Shrewsbury Sch. Reg.; King's Coll. Reg.)

In the 1901 England census he was living with his wife and sister at 3B Kiln Fields.

Hopefully this is the correct partner of WMV.
