VMs: Kind of Monkey

I am afraid I have to disappoint you: the name is derived from the
nearby river, the "Aschaff", which (resp. its older form,
Ascapha) in turn consists of a root unknown to me (Ask-)
and a well-known suffix for river names, "-apa".

"Ask" could be an old germanic form for the name of the
ash tree (like "askr" in Old Norse), but this is mere guessing!

Best regards,

Bernd

I've been there and wondered: is an Aschaffe some kind of monkey?
