What is the date of this entry? Hypothetically the author/editor has
simply confused the VMs with Kelley's documented Enochian efforts. In
other words, perhaps the author should have said
'' The latter device, known as a Cardan grille, was invented around 1550
as an encryption tool, and was apparently used by the creator of the VMs -
hypothetically Edward Kelley - to generate it. ''
One could come up with the Wikipedia version through a careless reading of
Rugg perhaps coupled with a little equally confused information on Kelley.
