VMs: vellum again

Regarding the use of vellum in different times and in different places

    folding patterns were characteristic
    number of bifolios varied
flesh side was or was not prone to flake (taking paint with it)
flesh side and hair side did or did not appear the same
    transparency varied
different animals contributed (regardless the names of the product)
(Dogs and birds contributed, too; not with their skins, however.)

There are many varieties of vellum/parchment. Names are not definitive.

This is a long read but worthwhile:

I do not suggest the locality or time can be pinpointed but a closer look at the actual manuscript with this -- and whatever else can be learned -- in mind might be of benefit. An expert's examination is needed.
