Around here the sun rises in the SE and sets in the NW. Not quite 180 degrees, but close.

It's been some time since my last astronomy lessons, but if the sun rises in
the SE, shouldn't it settle in the SW?
Assuming the sun culminates in the S, I would expect pairs like
Rise Settle
SE - SW
E - W
NE - NW
What would the ramifications for your hypothesis be?
