VMs: ... speculating with "dairal_dhairal"
Jacques told (I am afraid, not very seriously), he saw the word (written in
fluent "humanist hand") outside the ring as "clairol"

anyway,it's a nice idea ... so I looked at it from the viewpoint of alternate
possible readings and pronounciations, got "dairal", also "Dhairal" (because
"dh" exist in many places in southern, central Asia)
"dairal" seems to be something in Mongolian (don't ask, what does it mean):

the alternate pronounciation, "dhairal", seems to be a kind of rice in (probably
Indian this time, not Bangladeshi) Bengal:
