If this sentence had had "the sentence" instead of "a sentence", it would 
have been correct. :-)

Perhaps, if it had instead read:-

        If the sentence that had "had" and "had had" had had "had had" and 
"had" instead,
        it would have been correct.

Of course, the precise details I leave as an exercise for eager students of 
English to work out. :-)
