Re: VMs: 3 EVA characters appear in no labels

As promised to share when completed in case anyone is interested: There are apparently 3 characters from the EVA alphabet as published on the web which never appear in the labels.

They are:

iiil
iiim
v

This was performed using the list of over 1400 lines of labels available from Stolfi's site. The first few labels in the list with asterisks designating the weird characters were dropped as they obviously are not in the EVA alphabet by definition. (These would never be "knocked out" using label digraphs as nulls without regard to linking a page to a label page because they are never found in any label [transcription by others accepted of course]) A member is doing a count of these through the entire manuscript for curiosity's sake. If these characters raise any thoughts no matter how "wacky" I am always interested by private email. Bacon's "bi-literarie" examples regarding encoding meaning in only two characters caused me to rethink how few glyphs were used to carry meaning even in very old codes.

If the same check is applied to the 52 labels that appear as labels in more than one section, the following characters never appear:

f
cth
cph
ckh
cfh
il
iil
iiil
ir
iir
iiir
iiin
im
iim
iiim
g
j
x
v

Separate checks are being made for each manuscript section, i.e. zodiac, etc. Won't burden the main list with those unless somebody expresses interest. Possibilities of course abound....

Best wishes all, Wayne
