VMs: VMS: pataphysica

Hi everyone

 

I just came across "pataphysica2", which is a book edited by Dr Faustroll the undertitle of which is pataphysica & alchimia (Iuniverse, Inc, New York, 2004). The ISBN is 0-595-33745-7.

 

In this book is an article by Aaron Parrett : the alchemy of travelling from the earth to the moon and the five planets: a short story.

 

In this article many references to VMS are to be found. Basically they are pointing at Kepler and Kircher. The general  idea seems to be that our beloved MS is dealing with some kind of "astrobotany".

 

Kepler (as the author of Somnium) and his mother ( as a witch) are supposed to be, it seems at the origin of it.

 

Here is a quotation: " orthodox science has all but eradicated alchemy, and with it, the secrets of Somnium and the Voynich " (page 95).

 

Aaron Parrett (MA 1996, PhD 1999) is a writer and musician who holds degrees in Philosophy and Comparative Litterature; he teaches in the English Department at the University of Great Falls.
