Or it had a very big ego, "le grandeur was not uncommon those times.
How about a romantic perspective. Once upon a time there was a prisoner
in a tower writing his own memories. Probably a cultivated one, well
travelled, read many books.
An old man, still able to recall fragments of his encounters, what is
not remembered was filled by his own imagination.
His only view to outside is a window, not too small not too large, just
enough to see the next castle towers. A river flows between the castles.
It is fall, time for wine making (*) , women are gathered outside pounding
with their feet bunches of grapes ... and so on, so on
Far fetched ?! Just check the "Wachaw Valley" in Austria :)
*) Somehow images from from the "anatomy" section look like grapes to me.
