It's about 3 hours' drive from NYC to Yale, and about 2 hours from Grand Central Terminal to New Haven on the train.

I may have a chance to visit NY in September.

How long does it take to go to Beinecke Library from NY by train and
taxi?
If I leave NY early in the morning, can I go to Connecticut and see
Voynich Manuscript a few hours, and then return to NY before the day is
over?

If you have visited there on the same route before, please tell me how
to get there by train.
