You mean, somebody wrote down more than a hundred pages with his own self-invented cipher, and only afterwards finds out that his algorithm is one-way only? That'd certainly be a bummer. I *do* hope the guy checked restoration of his sources with his algorithm...

IIUC, Marke's original assumpation was: Perhaps the many rules and persistent peculiarities of the VM are really only an artifact of a very limited amount of source text being used over and over.


For example, if "This is the true source that was used for the VM" was kind of the "raw sequence" for a Fincher window, we'd find that almost all instances of "t" in the obfuscated text would happen to be at word beginnings, and if "t" was at a word end, it also be at the very word's beginning.

In other words, it wouldn't be "happening", but it'd be the result of deliberately making up the VM from mumbo-jumbo.
