Fantastic link, Berndt! :-))) Just about everything you could ever reasonably need to know about Lingua Franca - it could well be the VMS' underlying language.

Unfortunately, on this list we often have unreasonable needs. :-)

One tantalising reference in the bibliography is:-

        See Grion, G., "Farmacopea e Lingua Franca del Dugento",
        Archivio Glottologico Italiano vol 12, (1890-1892)

This describes some of the earliest known fragments of Lingua Franca, which were "medical prescription recipes". Now *they* would be interesting to see... :-)
