VMs: VMS reproduction

Sorry that this is probably a complete newbie question but...

I've seen some reproductions of some of the folios - both in colour and
the proverbial bad b&w photocopy variety - but would think that to study
the VM seriously one would need to see the whole thing in its original
state. Naturally, the chances of doing this are fairly remote for
practical reasons. My question is - has anyone ever thought of taking
digital pictures of all of it and putting it onto a CD (or the net)? Or
is this a planned activity?

As I said, I'm new here...
