As usual with the VMS, I don't know any way to prove my theory,
even with multiple examples that correlate back and forth.
Shelton published an earlier system, but received several
complaints to that system, it being too difficult and apparently
conflicting with some existing system? Shelton says his earlier
attempt was the best knowledge he had at the time, but did offer
Zieglographia as the corrected version. I get the feeling this
system went back a long way, and if the symbols in the VMS are
from this system, it would necessarily have to be at least 80-100
years old by the time Shelton got around to learning it.

For me, the symbols offer more of a country and principality
connection than anything else. Perhaps even, the ring on 57v
might eventually be translated. I believe, with the nature of
what symbols I've decoded so far, that this might be a prayer. I
can never be certain however:-(

BTW Nick,
what do you know of this manuscript?

Miscellaneous Texts
Written in Yorkshire.
Mid- to late fifteenth century.
Rylands Latin MS 228

>From the description, I believe it might contain a small herbal
that was possibly compiled by Anthony Askham. The example text
and description seem very close to his work, and Yorkshire was his
home, after all. I'd like to get a sample of the drawings and a
sample of the handwriting to compare with his Sacro Bosco
manuscript, and I'm also very curious as to the coloring and ink
used as well. Any help?
