Re: VMs: RE: Shelton shorthand...

Hi GC,

Thanks for clarifying stuff on Shelton! :-)

BTW Nick,
what do you know of this manuscript?

Miscellaneous Texts
Written in Yorkshire.
Mid- to late fifteenth century.
Rylands Latin MS 228

From the description, I believe it might contain a small herbal
that was possibly compiled by Anthony Askham. The example text
and description seem very close to his work, and Yorkshire was his
home, after all. I'd like to get a sample of the drawings and a
sample of the handwriting to compare with his Sacro Bosco
manuscript, and I'm also very curious as to the coloring and ink
used as well. Any help?

Sometimes it seems as though the British Library holds more stuff than anyone knows what to do with. I'm sure that's a good thing, though. :-)

I'll be sure to check out this MS next time I'm in the BL - as with all MS, I'm unlikely to be able to make a copy of it, but I'll make notes on it & see what I can arrange. :-o

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
