VMs: Angels

There is a interesting figure with a cross-bow over his left shoulder and a 
crescent shaped cycle saw held up in his right hand reminiscent of the 
crossbow archer in the VMS ("Horoscope types by Johannes Engel, 1488, The 
British Library, IA.6670) seen in "Astrology: A History" by Peter Whitfield 
(Harry N. Abrams, Inc., publishers, pp.162-163, 2001). I wonder if the 
scribe of the VMS might have seen Engel's work?

I wonder if lightning bolts and/or roots might correspond stars suspended by 
strings in the VMS?
