Seems to me that Rudolph II's interests in Herbals would be the reason for
a hoax, not the other way around. After all, if I were interested in
Stamps from the 1920s and you wanted my interest (as well as money) you would
hoax a stamp from the 1920s - not a Barbie Doll.

Is this generally agreed to be correct? If so, that would make sense of one otherwise weak spot in the "hoax" hypothesis, namely why any hoaxer would spend time and effort to produce a herbal rather than something much more exotic. If not, that argument against a hoax remains in place. Best wishes, Gordon (Standard disclaimer here: this question does not mean I'm pushing the "hoax" hypothesis, just that I'm trying to tidy up a loose end! For what it's worth, I'm currently investigating a model which would provide a rationale for Dee to play an active part in preparing the VMS as a coded document with meaningful content...) ______________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, send mail to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxx with a body saying: unsubscribe vms-list |
