Bummer! Now you've gone and biased my slant on those pages. :-) Actually,
I have already transcribed them but have not done the several proofs I apply
to a quire before posting, so they're not yet my "golden copy". I have an
opinion on these pages, but you have to read Askham's translation of Sacro
Bosco's "Sphearae" to gain my sense - maybe not. This sentence might
possibly sum it all up:

"here begynnythe sertayne notes or rewles off geometre necessary and nedfull
to be knowyn a fore the redyng off this presentt boke."

We have "Ptolmy sayth", "as euclide doth wrytt", etc. That's one idea.
Yours is also very much in line with western manuscripts, in that each
"section" was considered a separate book, and each usually had its
associated descriptive and narrative. Now that I think about it, we're
basically discussing the same thing here. (Anybody notice that Askham is
simply "y" crazi?)

How these "stars" pages relate to the "stars" section at the end of the
book, I'm not yet certain. Statistically I guess I'd have to check your
pages on this since I don't yet have those stats available. Do I think (as
a guess) that they are directly related? No, I think the material is a
lead-in to the astronomical section. The "stars" section to me has always
been an almanac. Astronomy/almanac, both worthy of stars IMHO. (Can one
say "almanaic in structure"? - sounds cool....).

As to f116v, I did a search some time ago in my "old" transcription and
couldn't find a page that resembled this structure - so naturally I'd like
to hear more - much much more.

Or dealing with the same subject taken from the view of many authors? You
are aware that f57v is one of my prize possessions in English authorship
theory, but aside from that I do understand what you're saying. 58r was
written in at least 4 sittings. 58v is one of my favorites, in that it has
"additions" at the ends of lines 10 and 11. These "additions" may mask a
previous paragraph break. Here the new paragraph may actually start on line
11. This page was probably composed in three or more sittings (or breaks)
itself. It's too bad we don't have the rest of this quire.
