This is something I'm in the process of recording and discovering. I've
followed your work on the quire alignments very carefully, and agree with it
to a high degree, especially in the later work. I'm testing a suspicion
about the herbal section, and it will either prove or disprove my initial
assessment.

I'm starting with words as the obvious indicator, looking at several aspects
or "groupings". Given that the first [hb] page starts at 26r, what relation
is there between these pages and the [ha] pages before 26r? The groupings
are:

Unique words, locate only on this page in the herbal section
Words that occur only before 26r
Words that occur only after 26r
Words that occur only in [ha] pages
Words that occur only in [hb] pages
Words that occur primarily before 26r but occur occasionally in [hb] pages.
Words that occur commonly throughout both [ha] and [hb] pages.

I'm adding the single folio 57r to the study to complete the initial herbal
section. I'm not so bold as to expand this to other herbal folios until
I've understood the intended "progression" of the first section.

Here's a test run of only words that are unique to the folios in the herbal
section.

(I think I saw something like this on Stolfi's site once). A percentage of
these words are due in part to the descriptive nature of the transcription,
but the general perception is enough to allow one to begin to ask more
definite questions in mathematical terms. More later......
