VMs: Re: AW: VMS-List-Archive Search Engine
Hi everyone,
Here's a blindingly obvious idea - perhaps we should create a read-only
Usenet group to echo email-mangled posts from this mailing list? Is there
any reason why this shouldn't work?
Just to make what I mean absolutely clear - we'd carry on posting here
exactly as normal, but an additional script would be triggered over each
message to strip out (mangle) any email addresses in it & to pass it
silently on to a read-only Usenet group, set up specifically for the
purpose & one to which no-one else (specifically spambots etc) can post.
Once that's in place, we'd find a way of getting all earlier (similarly
email-mangled) messages from the mailing list archives merged into the same
read only group within the Google Groups archive.
Here are some suggestions as to where in the Usenet hierarchy this kind of
mailing list mirror might fit:-
alt.voynich
alt.conspiracy.voynich <-- it's not paranoia if they *are* out to get you :-)
alt.history.voynich
alt.history.voynich-read-only
rec.voynich
sci.crypt.voynich <-- yeah, Nick, that'll rattle a few cages :-)
Unsurprisingly, my preferred option would be alt.history.voynich (as the
VMS' historical side is perhaps a little more certain than any of its other
sides).
Comments/suggestions?
Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
PS: I've also contacted Google Groups about integrating the mailing list
into their archive - from the tone of the automated response I got, I don't
expect a reply for a while, though. :-(
