Re: VMs: Folio 68r3

Hi everyone,

At 23:13 11/12/2003 -0500, Larry Roux wrote:
According to Allen: "Caput Trianguli was translated "Ras al Muthallath" by the Arabian astronomers. It is a half-magnitude inferior to beta, although the latter bears no name. Together these two were the Arabs' Al Mizan, the Scale-Beam"

So: for the suggested constellation, we have: * Deltotron, Triangulum, (Sicilia?)

For Alpha Tri & Beta Tri (when taken together), we have:
*  Al Mizan (the Scale-Beam)

For Alpha Tri, we have:
* Alpha Tri = Metallah; Mothallah; Atria; Caput Trianguli; Ras al Muthallah; Elmuthalleth

On f68r3, the three stars each have seven points (though a close examination of the top star [in the no-ip scan] suggests that it might actually have been drawn with six points but later amended to have seven), and their labels are:

okolchy

                           y cphy       [I prefer "y cphy" to "o cphy"]
        chdy oky

Have I missed anything important?

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
