while I am not sure that the VMs actually
says 'valsch', it certainly looks like it. A
professional paleographer should be able to help
us out here.
In any case, what I wanted to say is that
'falsch' is certainly the modern German word for
'wrong'. However, there are many other germanic
languages and dialects. Some >50 years ago,
valsch would have been the Dutch spelling of
a word now written as 'vals'. This does _not_ mean
'wrong', but rather 'fake' (as in counterfeit
money).
In the 15th C, spelling and meaning would have
been quite different from the modern language.
