BTW, if you had to make a best guess as the town the 'mussdel' writer was
from, what would it be? Where is "West Central German" roughly located? I
know that language is rarely that exact, but I'd be very interested to hear
your opinion all the same! :-)
The green area on this modern map is the right area for West Central
German (Westmitteldeutsch).

Would you also say that the writing at the very top of f17r was by the same
person? (I was a little surprised you didn't mention this too)
Finally... might this person also have been the one who added the zodiac
sign names (given that Leo seems to be written "augst"), or do you think
that's a different hand again?
These inscriptions are so short that I wouldn't want to commit myself.
They look the same general age to me. The month names are all
possible forms in mediaeval / early modern German, including Octember.
