Well, it's quite possible and surely it's fun.
But for a XVth century 100+ pages manuscript I propose some 
other explanations too, like:

accentuation via recitation
(like: 
"...VMS is really, really, really strange..." -
often used in volksongs, proverbs etc)

voices of nature
(like:
Chasm is diz-dizzy dy-dy-dy
Stones are fal-falling dar-dar-dar
Me, I prattle bar-bar-bar

to make it more strange
(especially, if it's a late XIX century/early XX century artpiece)
