The only one I've ever seen is the one adopted by
Stolfi in his interlinear file. Nothing wrong
with 'adopting' that, IMHO.

... but as long as we have uncertain spaces (or
half spaces as some call them) we cannot use any
numbering for words in a line, at least not without
leading to difference of opinion.
