VMs: RE: Past reordering of the manuscript

	Hi Erni,

There have been numerous discussions about page order of the years and
although a few of us are more convinced about some portions, like everything
else in the VMS - you find ample room for disagreement about the
observations made.

Here's my view... (which I believe to be a single view in its entirety)

	1. The quire signatures give us the best ordering of segments (except for
19 and 20 - which I don't think are original quire signatures).
	2. Quire 9 is one folio out of place as the quire signature should be on
the last reverse folio (not the first recto). The symmetry of the graphic
layout makes more sense as well when you shift it back into position.
	3. -- Several folios fell out and were placed back in where somebody
thought the images seemed to fit -- Then to make sure they knew the order
the next time the threads gave they numbered the folios in the top right
corner. The order has stayed the same ever since. The numbering took place
before the pages were 'cut' out and sent to Kircher, assuming he didn't
return those.
	4. In the 1920's several pages went missing.

http://www.morewood.net/voynich/vmsquires.html needs to be reworked, but
presents some reshuffling I've done in my mind. I like to think the author
kept A-language and B-language sets in separate quires, so if a quire
signature is on a 'B' folio - I want to see the whole quire be 'B'
language. -- Note, this is imposing an assumption on the VMS which is not
necessarily there.

	John.

Subject: VMs: Past reordering of the manuscript

Hello to the list.

I've read a couple of comments about the pages of the manuscript having
been reorganized or mixed up at some point in the past. The most recent
posting was by Nick on Aug. 11 but also by Jorge Stolfi on Jan 22, 2002.
I have my own suspicions about the placement of several pages but I could
really benefit from some input by the rest of the group.
Can anyone help me out here?

Thank you.

Erni
