Page 67 of Kennedy's book shows four folio numbers (11, 34,
47, 78, 82, 88) next to eight dates out of Dee's diaries:
1582, 1549, 1568, 1533, 1537, 1519, 1558, 1548.
The handwriting is completely different.

Let me explain.

Compare the digit 4 in the VMS foliation and in Dee's
diaries.

The VMS 4 is identical with EVA <q>. Its vertical stroke
is thick, its horizontal stroke light. Dee's vertical
stroke is light, the horizontal stroke is thick.
Dee's vertical stroke starts with a hook to the left,
ends with a hook to the right, like this

   A__ /|
         |
         |
         |
         |
         |
         |/

The other stroke is c-shaped, like this (much enlarged):

          C
        /
      /
   #####
  ########
### ## ----B
## #
 #### ######
  ####################
      ##############

Further, not only are those two strokes quite different from
those of the 4 of the foliation, but they do not connect
in the same manner at all. The "foliation 4" connects
exactly at the top. The beginning of Dee's c-stroke, marked
'B' in the sketch above, connects:

1. with the lower end of the top hook of the vertical stroke
   in figure '1549'(marked 'A')

2. with the second segment (|) of the vertical stroke
in figure '1548', so that the top of the c-stroke,
(marked 'C'), touches the lower end of the top hook
   of the vertical stroke ('A').

The figures 3 and 8 are also perceptibly different.

In conclusion: I just don't buy that expert's story.
