Funny you should mention the "fact" of gravity when
the "fact" of gravity has been socially described,
defined, redefined, and rewritten by first Copernicus,
then Newton, and then Einstein.  What is gravity?  We
only add and subtract attributes to the "fact" of
gravity in order to fulfill some sort of pressing
scientific need.  But that scientific need, as well as
its "solution", "answer", etc. are merely socially
arrived at conventions.
