Hello Rene, 

that surely cannot be Baresh's  thesis  written while he was at La Sapienza, since he started his studies there in 1605, as he claims in his letter to  Kircher.  Leopold I Habsburg lived * June 9, 1640, + May 5, 1705.

Interestingly enough, it may  be the same  Leopold to whom Galileo wrote his  letter in 1618, while Leopold was still the Archduke.  http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/galileo/letterleopold.html
