Re: VMs: Medeltidshandskrift 47
Hi Nick and everyone,
When looking at the pages of Codex Laurentius/Medeltidshandskrift 47
at the page refered to by Nick
http://laurentius.lub.lu.se/volumes/Mh_47/
I was quite astonished by the similarity of many letters of the
script to those of the VMs. Just by looking at the single page
http://laurentius.lub.lu.se/storage/Mh_47/Mh_47-f_15_r.jpg
one can immediately recognize the VMs letters a d l m n r u y iin
(EVA transcription), I might have missed some. These letters are not
just similar, they simply are the same. I am not an expert in the
medieval manuscripts, so can anyone provide any comment on this
similarity? Is it common for manuscripts of that period, or is this
one an exception? How plausible is it to assume, that the author of
the VMs lived at the same time as the author of Mh47 and that they
shared the same cultural environment? And can anyone provide the
reading of the VMs-like letters in Mh47?
I am sorry if this has been discussed already on the list, I didn't
find any note on Codex Laurentius or Mh47 in the archives.
Best Regards
Lukas
