Yezidism (Re: VMs: flowers & stars: Zoroastrian stuff)

Yes and no, but thanks! The Yezids are what I was trying to think of
while I was assembling those links on Zorastrianism. Somewhere I ran into
a survey of Iranian cults some years ago and I remembered from it a phase
"worshippers of the peacock (something)." I thought it was "peacock
throne," but I realized the other night I must have gotten something else
crossed up with Iran's historic peacock throne. It was probably "peacock
angel" or "peacock god" that I was struggling to recall.
I remember being intrigued at the number of heretical or at least
heterodox religions to arise in Iran since Islam. Mohammed may have had
it revealed to him that his was the last revelation - no one wants to
think of counterrevelationists messing with their ideas - but someone
forgot to tell the Iranians. Baha'ism is another product of the fruitful
Iranian religious mind. As I recall there was quite a long list. Most of
the cults mentioned had been thoroughly suppressed and their proponents
martyred. Kind of reminds me of the ferment in certain quarters in the
US.
