Hi everyone,

f49v is a good example.

This could mean I'm wrong about the numbers, too. But I'm still working

I suspect the first column on f49v may be something entirely different from most pages: IIRC, EVA <qo> rarely starts column 2 elsewhere, but on that page it occurs quite a few times in that position.

The quire numerator seemed to agree, as this is where he added "1 2 3 4 5" beside this column, possibly only stopping when he realised that EVA <o> would end up coding for several numbers. :-)

Incidentally, the flower on the top right of f49v reminds me to mention that the flower in the top right of f17r reminds me of the worn-out drawing mark in the top right of f1r. Is it just a coincidence that the first page of Q1 and the first page of Q3 both have a top-right drawing and added marginalia, yet the first page of Q2 does not? To my eyes, that might also imply that f42r (three paragraphs with titles, leaf extending into top right corner) could well have originally been the front page of a quire as well... just a thought. :-)

Cheers, ....Nick Pelling....
