Actually, this merging was all done by Jorge
Stolfi, a very significant effort.

I'm not sure. A file written in Eva cannot always
be translated to Currier without loss. On the other
hand, a file originally written in Currier, then
translated to Eva, can be translated back without 
loss.
Note that the Currier alphabet has this ambiguity.
You can write M also as IN or IID, but it is not clear
if these are meant to represent the same or not.
