Hi Florin,

According to Gettings (Dictionary of alchemical
sigils),

O with a dot in the middle with the meaning of gold
is to be seen in Alchymia (1563), Crollius (1612)...

O without dot with the meaning of sun is encountered
in Bernard (15th).

O with a dot in the middle with the meaning of sun was
introduced during the Italian Renaissance from the
esoteric Christian tradition.

The cross in your MS is the potent or Greek one AFAIK;
it is a bit different from the common alchemical
representation of the crucible which is a simple +.

However we are here in a difficult matter, would you
allow me this pun.

Want an evidence? I checked with Schneider (Lexicon
alchemistisch-pharmazeutischer Symbole) and:

Gold is according to him represented among others by a

O with or without dot.

The cross as shown in your docuement is exactly one of
the possible representations of crucible.

So what?

I maintain that in alchemy representations of gold and
sun are interrelated and that O has that
signification.

I maintain that in alchemy + possibly is crucible. I
have to add that Christus is on his cross is a symbol
of the mattery in the crucible.

Now back to your document, it seems to be written as a
kind of prayer. Either it is simply that or it has
also a hidden meaning. Would deserve a translation
from Latin. And a better knowledge of the context.

There are some alchemical treatises looking like
religious works.
