Hello Jeff,

Barschius is listed in the Clementinum records as
'Sincoviensis' (the indication of his birth place).
I was told by the Czech historian Josef Smolka
(the source of this information) that this refers
to the town of Zinkovy, in W. Bohemia.
I fully trust this source.

There has been a great migration of Italians
to Bohemia in the 1400's, if I am not mistaken,
related to the mining trade.
Also Rudolf invited quite a number of Italian
artists to his court in the late 1500's, many of
whom stayed.
