Perhaps I should also add the painfully obvious observation that "iiij"
upside down looks a lot like EVA "iiin", with the tail of the (inverted)
"j" looping up and back over the preceding "i" strokes.
Here's a speculation: perhaps because of the rarity of measures greater
than 4 ounces in these potions, it was simpler to write 7 ounces as (say)
"daiin dain" (ie "on iiij on iij"). This wouldn't be the most complex
number-encoding format ever devised, but it would be fairly misleading. :-)
